17 Various Maintainers
18
19Note individuals who maintain parts of the debugger need approval to
20check in changes outside of the immediate domain that they maintain.
21
36c2118f
AC
22If there is no maintainer for a given domain then the responsibility
23falls to the head maintainer.
24
25If there are several maintainers for a given domain then
26responsibility falls to the first maintainer. The first maintainer is
27free to devolve that responsibility among the other maintainers.

30 The Obvious Fix Rule
31
32All maintainers listed in this file are allowed to check in obvious
33fixes.
34
35An "obvious fix" means that there is no possibility that anyone will
36disagree with the change. Something like bypassing an interface will
37result in instantaneous and loud complaints.
38
39A good mental test is "will the person who hates my work the most be
40able to find fault with the change" - if so, then it's not obvious and
41needs to be posted first. :-)

156All maintainers can make arbitrary changes to OBSOLETE targets.
157
158All maintainers can make mechanical (params, spelling, indentation,
159multi-arch, -W..., ....) changes to ``maintenance only'' targets.
160Please sanity check the change by compiling with one of the listed
161targets.

163The GAWK segment:
164
165 awk < "${maintainers}" '
166 $2 ~ /--target=.*/ {
167 targets = gensub (/^.*--target=/, "", 1, $2)
168 warnings = gensub (/[)]*$/, "", 1, $3)
169 split (targets, targ, /,/)
170 for (i in targ) {
171 print targ[i], warnings
172 }
173 }'
174
175can be used to generate a full list of --target=
176--enable-gdb-build-warning= pairs.

182The Native maintainer is responsible for target specific native
183support - typically shared libraries and quirks to procfs/ptrace/...
184The Native maintainer works with the Arch and Core maintainers when
185resolving more generic problems.
8860ff2e
AC
186
187The host maintainer ensures that gdb (including mmalloc) can be built
188as a cross debugger on their platform.
