sfc: Run event/IRQ self-test asynchronously when interface is brought up

Generate a test event on each event queue whenever the interface is
brought up, then after 1 second check that we have either handled a
test event or handled another IRQ for each event queue.

In case all event queues are broken for some reason, this means it
will only take about a second to check them all, rather than up to 32

sfc: Raise self-test timeouts

IRQ latency can be ridiculously high for various reasons, so our
current timeouts of 100 ms or 10 ms are too short.

Change the IRQ and event tests to use polling loops starting with a
delay of 1 tick and doubling that if necessary up to a maximum total
delay of approximately 1 second.

Raise the loopback packet RX timeout to 1 second.

sfc: Remove TX completions from adaptive IRQ scoring

RX and TX completions on the same event queue are generally not associated
with the same flows.  The inclusion of TX completions in the adaptive IRQ
score is more of a source of noise rather than useful feedback.  Therefore,
do not include them in the score, and adjust the default threshold scores
down.

ucc_geth: separate out rx/tx ring alloc and free operations

Factor out the the existing allocation and free operations
so that they can be used individually.

This is to improve code readability, and also to prepare for
possible future changes like better error recovery and more
dynamic configuration (e.g on-the-fly resizing of the rings).

This change represents a straight up relocation of the existing
code into separate routines without changing any of the contained
code itself.  Local variables are relocated as necessary.

ppp: Move ioctl definitions from if_ppp.h to new ppp-ioctl.h

This moves the definitions of the ioctls, constants and structures
relating to the ppp_generic interface to userspace out from if_ppp.h
to a new file, ppp-ioctl.h.  The new file has my copyright since I
designed and implemented the ppp_generic interface in the late 1990s.
None of the contents of this file comes from the original if_ppp.h
published by Carnegie Mellon University.

Of the remainder of if_ppp.h, only the PPP_MTU definition was being
used, and this replaces the uses of it with PPP_MRU (which is identical).
Therefore, this replaces the entire file with the single line

#include <linux/ppp-ioctl.h>

which clearly doesn't contain any CMU code.  Thus I have removed the
CMU copyright notice with its problematic advertising clause, and in
fact since it's only one trivial line I have not added any other
copyright notice.

ppp: Change copyright notices from ANU to me

This changes the copyright notices on the PPP code that I developed
in the late 1990s from being copyright The Australian National
University to copyright Paul Mackerras.  I can do this as I have an
acknowledgement in writing from the Head of the Computer Science
Department at ANU (where I worked then) that ANU does not claim any
intellectual property in this code.

While I'm at it, change the copyright notice from BSD-style to
GNU GPL like the rest of the kernel.

GRC reset causes the read DMA engine to go into a mode that breaks up
requests into 256 bytes.  A PHY reset is required to bring it back to

tg3: Fix jumbo loopback test on 5719

Loopback on 9K packet fails because the chip has a DMA limit of 4K.  The
loopback test logic uses a single BD for simplicity.  Fix it by reducing
the jumbo packet size to the DMA limit.

dccp: fix bug in sequence number validation during connection setup

This fixes a bug in the sequence number validation during the initial handshake.

The code did not treat the initial sequence numbers ISS and ISR as read-only and
did not keep state for GSR and GSS as required by the specification. This causes
problems with retransmissions during the initial handshake, causing the
budding connection to be reset.

This patch now treats ISS/ISR as read-only and tracks GSS/GSR as required.

dccp ccid-3: replace incorrect BUG_ON

This replaces an unjustified BUG_ON(), which could get triggered under normal
conditions: X_calc can be 0 when p > 0. X would in this case be set to the
minimum, s/t_mbi. Its replacement avoids t_ipi = 0 (unbounded sending rate).

net: dcb: getnumtcs()/setnumtcs() should return an int

{g|s}etnumtcs() today returns a u8 that is only used by the DCB code
to verify no error occurred. Today the driver implementations return
negative error codes which end up being non-zero so the logic works
out but triggers some sparse warnings.

To fix the sparse warnings convert the return value to an int.

ixgbe: dcb: check setup_tc return codes

dcb netlink code calls setup_tc to init hardware traffic classes
to use for DCB. At some call sites the return values are not
checked for errors and in one case may return -EINVAL back to
the net/dcbnl.c caller which is expecting a u8.

This fixes some smatch hits and although failures are never
seen in practive its best to check return codes.

ethtool, mdio, mii: Specify MDIO information fields in struct ethtool_cmd

Add comments for ethtool_cmd::phy_address and
ethtool_cmd::mdio_support, and definitions of the flags currently
used in mdio_support.

In the mdio library, assert that its own flags continue to match those
in the ethtool interface.

In the mii library, use the ethtool flag definition and stop
including <linux/mdio.h>.

mdio: Export mdio.h to userland

The ID packing definitions are needed by userland and the register
definitions may also be useful there.

Do not export mdio_phy_id_{is_c45,prtad,devad}() as the use of bool is
problematic and it's not that useful to export only a subset of these.

Do not export MDIO_SUPPORTS_{C22,C45} directly; these flags are only
exposed to userland through struct ethtool_cmd so they should be
defined alongside that with appropriate names.

e100: Support RXALL feature flag.

This allows the NIC to receive packets with bad FCS
and other errors.  Good for sniffing packets on flakey
networks.

v4:  Only flax rx-over-length errors if pkt is beyond
   maximum expected packet size, not just beyond the MTU.
   This matches the existing logic for this counter.

tg3: Fix tg3_get_stats64 for 5700 / 5701 devs

tg3_get_stats64() takes tp->lock when dealing with non-serdes bcm5700
and bcm5701 devices.  However, functions that call tg3_halt() have
already acquired tp->lock.  When tg3_get_stats64() is called in
tg3_halt(), deadlock will occur.

This patch fixes the problem by separating the stat gathering code into
a new tg3_get_nstats() function.  tg3_get_stats64() is recoded to call
this function and take tp->lock.  The code that takes tp->lock in
tg3_calc_crc_errors() has been removed.  Function signatures have been
cleaned up too.

tipc: Optimize setting of immutable payload message header fields

Optimizes routines that send payload messages so that they no longer
update the "originating node" and "originating port" fields of the
outgoing message header template, since these fields are initialized
when the sending port is created and never change thereafter. Also
optimizes the routine which updates the message header template when
a connection to a port is established, for the same reason.

tipc: Eliminate obsolete code for re-sending a message

Removes code that updated the "previous node" field of an out-going
message over TIPC's links. Such updating is unnecessary since the
removal of the prototype multi-cluster capability means that all
outgoing messages are generated locally and already have this field
populated correctly.

tcp: fix false reordering signal in tcp_shifted_skb

When tcp_shifted_skb() shifts bytes from the skb that is currently
pointed to by 'highest_sack' then the increment of
TCP_SKB_CB(skb)->seq implicitly advances tcp_highest_sack_seq(). This
implicit advancement, combined with the recent fix to pass the correct
SACKed range into tcp_sacktag_one(), caused tcp_sacktag_one() to think
that the newly SACKed range was before the tcp_highest_sack_seq(),
leading to a call to tcp_update_reordering() with a degree of
reordering matching the size of the newly SACKed range (typically just
1 packet, which is a NOP, but potentially larger).

This commit fixes this by simply calling tcp_sacktag_one() before the
TCP_SKB_CB(skb)->seq advancement that can advance our notion of the
highest SACKed sequence.

Correspondingly, we can simplify the code a little now that
tcp_shifted_skb() should update the lost_cnt_hint in all cases where
skb == tp->lost_skb_hint.

25) When we added VF (virtual function) attributes for network device
   dumps, this potentially bloats up the size of the dump of one
   network device such that the dump size is too large for the buffer
   allocated by properly written netlink applications.

   In particular, if you add 255 VFs to a network device, parts of
   GLIBC stop working.

   To fix this, we add an attribute that is used to turn on these
   extended portions of the network device dump.  Sophisticaed
   applications like 'ip' that want to see this stuff  will be changed
   to set the attribute, whereas things like GLIBC that don't care
   about VFs simply will not, and therefore won't be busted by the
   mere presence of VFs on a network device.

   Thanks to the tireless work of Greg Rose on this fix.

mlx4_en: dont change mac_header on xmit

A driver xmit function is not allowed to change skb without special
care.

mlx4_en_xmit() should not call skb_reset_mac_header() and instead should
use skb->data to access ethernet header.

This removes a dumb test : if (ethh && ethh->h_dest)

Also remove this slow mlx4_en_mac_to_u64() call, we can use
get_unaligned() to get faster code.

netfilter: ctnetlink: support kernel-space dump filtering by ctmark

This patch adds CTA_MARK_MASK which, together with CTA_MARK, allows
you to selectively send conntrack entries to user-space by
returning those that match mark & mask.

With this, we can save cycles in the building and the parsing of
the entries that may be later on filtered out in user-space by using
the ctmark & mask.

netlink: allow to pass data pointer to netlink_dump_start() callback

This patch allows you to pass a data pointer that can be
accessed from the dump callback.

Netfilter is going to use this patch to provide filtered dumps
to user-space. This is specifically interesting in ctnetlink that
may handle lots of conntrack entries. We can save precious
cycles by skipping the conversion to TLV format of conntrack
entries that are not interesting for user-space.

More specifically, ctnetlink will include one operation to allow
to filter the dumping of conntrack entries by ctmark values.

netlink: add netlink_dump_control structure for netlink_dump_start()

Davem considers that the argument list of this interface is getting
out of control. This patch tries to address this issue following
his proposal:

Fix autofs compile without CONFIG_COMPAT

The autofs compat handling fix caused a compile failure when
CONFIG_COMPAT isn't defined.

Instead of adding random #ifdef'fery in autofs, let's just make the
compat helpers earlier to use: without CONFIG_COMPAT, is_compat_task()
just hardcodes to zero.

We could probably do something similar for a number of other cases where
we have #ifdef's in code, but this is the low-hanging fruit.

autofs: work around unhappy compat problem on x86-64

When the autofs protocol version 5 packet type was added in commit
5c0a32fc2cd0 ("autofs4: add new packet type for v5 communications"), it
obvously tried quite hard to be word-size agnostic, and uses explicitly
sized fields that are all correctly aligned.

However, with the final "char name[NAME_MAX+1]" array at the end, the
actual size of the structure ends up being not very well defined:
because the struct isn't marked 'packed', doing a "sizeof()" on it will
align the size of the struct up to the biggest alignment of the members
it has.

And despite all the members being the same, the alignment of them is
different: a "__u64" has 4-byte alignment on x86-32, but native 8-byte
alignment on x86-64.  And while 'NAME_MAX+1' ends up being a nice round
number (256), the name[] array starts out a 4-byte aligned.

End result: the "packed" size of the structure is 300 bytes: 4-byte, but
not 8-byte aligned.

As a result, despite all the fields being in the same place on all
architectures, sizeof() will round up that size to 304 bytes on
architectures that have 8-byte alignment for u64.

Note that this is *not* a problem for 32-bit compat mode on POWER, since
there __u64 is 8-byte aligned even in 32-bit mode.  But on x86, 32-bit
and 64-bit alignment is different for 64-bit entities, and as a result
the structure that has exactly the same layout has different sizes.

So on x86-64, but no other architecture, we will just subtract 4 from
the size of the structure when running in a compat task.  That way we
will write the properly sized packet that user mode expects.

Not pretty.  Sadly, this very subtle, and unnecessary, size difference
has been encoded in user space that wants to read packets of *exactly*
the right size, and will refuse to touch anything else.

sfc: Fix assignment of ip_summed for pre-allocated skbs

When pre-allocating skbs for received packets, we set ip_summed =
CHECKSUM_UNNCESSARY.  We used to change it back to CHECKSUM_NONE when
the received packet had an incorrect checksum or unhandled protocol.

Commit bc8acf2c8c3e43fcc192762a9f964b3e9a17748b ('drivers/net: avoid
some skb->ip_summed initializations') mistakenly replaced the latter
assignment with a DEBUG-only assertion that ip_summed ==
CHECKSUM_NONE.  This assertion is always false, but it seems no-one
has exercised this code path in a DEBUG build.

Fix this by moving our assignment of CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY into
efx_rx_packet_gro().

ppp: fix 'ppp_mp_reconstruct bad seq' errors

This patch fixes a (mostly cosmetic) bug introduced by the patch
'ppp: Use SKB queue abstraction interfaces in fragment processing'
found here: http://www.spinics.net/lists/netdev/msg153312.html

The above patch rewrote and moved the code responsible for cleaning
up discarded fragments but the new code does not catch every case
where this is necessary.  This results in some discarded fragments
remaining in the queue, and triggering a 'bad seq' error on the
subsequent call to ppp_mp_reconstruct.  Fragments are discarded
whenever other fragments of the same frame have been lost.
This can generate a lot of unwanted and misleading log messages.

This patch also adds additional detail to the debug logging to
make it clearer which fragments were lost and which other fragments
were discarded as a result of losses. (Run pppd with 'kdebug 1'
option to enable debug logging.)

tipc: Eliminate support for tipc_mode global variable

Removes all references to the global variable that records whether
TIPC is running in "single node" mode or "network" mode, since this
information can be easily deduced from the global variable that
records TIPC's network address. (i.e. a non-zero network address
means that TIPC is running in network mode.)

The changes made update most existing mode-based checks to use the
network address global variable. A few checks that are no longer
needed are removed entirely, along with any associated code lying on
non-executable control paths.

tipc: Eliminate obsolete support for "not running" mode

Removes all references to TIPC's "not running" mode, since the
removal of support for the native API means that there is no longer
any way to interact with TIPC if it has not been initialized.

The changes made consist of removing mode-based checks that are no
longer needed, along with any associated code lying on non-executable
control paths.

tipc: Revert name table translation optimization

Restores name table translation using a non-zero domain that is
"out of scope", which was broken by an earlier commit
(5d9c54c1e9ececcf7e99c4f014f9bec7ee3a7def). Comments have now been
added to the name table translation routine to make it clear that
there are actually three possible outcomes to a translation request
(found/not found/deferred), rather than just two (found/not found).

Note that a straightforward revert of the earlier commit is not
possible, as other changes to the name table translation logic
have occurred since the incorrect optimization was made.

tipc: Minor optimization to broadcast link synchronization logic

Optimizes processing done when contact with a neighboring node is
established to avoid recording the current state of outgoing broadcast
messages if the neighboring node isn't a valid broadcast link destination,
since this state information isn't needed for such nodes.

tipc: Remove obsolete comments about routing table updates

Eliminates a block of comments that describe how routing table updates
are to be handled. These comments no longer apply following the removal
of TIPC's prototype multi-cluster support.

Note that these changes are essentially cosmetic in nature, and have
